What is the Vocational Preference Inventory?
The Vocational Preference Inventory utilizes John Holland's Person-Environment theory. It has shown to be a valuable tool in helping incoming freshmen determine how to proceed in the college setting (Mauer & Gysbers, 2011). This inventory will allow students the opportunity to asses many measurable outcomes, such as their interests, strengths, and values. Who can use the Vocational Preference Inventory? Students can find their results on this website and through the sign-up page and can meet with a school counselor to further discuss the results. With the school counselor and/or their parents/guardians, students can utilize the results to facilitate either a college-bound or career-ready discussion. How are the results interpreted? Once the three highest scores are derived, test takers can identify suitable occupations. Taking the inventory:
The test can be taken within 10 - 30 minutes. It can be purchased individually online for a total of $38. If a student has financial concerns, he or she can contact the counseling department to discuss options for receiving a pre-purchased copy. |
