What is a vocational/trade school?
Used as interchangeable terms, vocational/trade schools are higher-level learning facilities that provide students with hands-on training geared towards teaching specialized knowledge and job-specific skills needed to perform tasks required within any number of high skill, high paying jobs. The emphasis within these institutions in on the practical application of skills, rather than the academic requirement. Generally, a program within a vocational school can be completed within two years or less post high school graduation. While a high school diploma is frequently required for vocational school admission, some trade programs work in combination with a given high school, allowing for high school juniors and seniors to pursue both standard and vocational education. Vocational school training can assist students who may not see college as their best choice and allows high school graduates to quickly and readily enter the workforce.
